Games We Recommend

We play quite a lot of games, and find that there are some excellent webgames available at other websites. The following is a shortlist of games we enjoy

Tower Defense

  • Flash Element TD - a flash based Tower Defense game. Definitely gives a head-nod to Warcraft III style tower defense, and is well balanced and enjoyable
  • Gem Craft - a significantly developed game. Features a level map, perks/levelling, and a huge number of tower types and creeps. Really well done.
  • Desktop Tower Defense - another well done Tower Defense game. Works on a free-form model - place towers anywhere on the map to channel the creeps. Simple graphics work really well.
  • Mini Tower Defence - addictive. The upgrade system, combined with going back through older levels to get EXPERT, and achievements makes this a big timesink. (Also, fun and well designed)
  • Born of Fire - Nice graphics. Towers (Heroes) gain XP
    • Platformers

      • Great Dungeon in the Sky - Very nice, high quality game. Lots of unlockable characters, and nice graphics.
      • Condition - Space themed platformer. Very good, fun game. Not addictive, but very involving. There's a reddit thread, where you can talk to the author here. (Flash Based)
      • Robo Run - a very well done platformer, with a gravity-reverse puzzle twist. (Flash based)

      Bejewelled/Stone swap

      • Stones Masters - As with most swap-stone type games, it's inherently addictive. The addition of vs gameplay, spells and progression is a nice twist. Downside is that the instructions are sorely lacking...

      Strategy

      • Infectonator - World Dominator - an addictive, yet grindy, zombie strategy game. Kill and infect humans to earn money - research developments and improvements in the Lab. Nice graphics, but becomes pretty boring about 50% of the way through.

      Puzzle & Physics games

      • Burning Man - Written as a contest entry, there's a discussion thread on reddit with the author here. Nice quick fun - 30 levels to work out.

      RPG's

      • The Chimaera Stones - I didn't get much time with this one, but I definitely was impressed. A good look into how well we can use Webgames as a medium for more in-depth games (Previously, I'd expected to only want to play webgames for something that I could assume would last a day attention-wise)

      FPS'es

      Experimental

      • Javascript Wolfenstein - Though an experiment, it's pretty impressive, and shows that some nice things are possible on the webgame front. There's a blog post on the same site that goes into a bit more detail

      Download required games

These are the games that will require you to download something. Some of them are fantastic.

      • RunMan: Race Around the World - Simplistic, great gameplay, heaps of fun. The game's graphics actually compliment the style of the game. Definitely an example, of where you don't need to have brilliant looks, just consistent quality levels.
