This week has been a good one for Arnthak. Content wise, there's been some significant mapwork additions, as well as a changes to some interactions. Jay has sent on some new sprites, which are an excellent update of the old Slug sprites.
It's been a busy fortnight or so - Arnthak rumbles toward completion as always. The week after the last update was spent mostly solidifying Items, crafting and lore. This week's been a whirlwind of new content - Jay has sent me over three new sprite sets for creatures, so they've gone straight in. Additionally, I was inspired to work some new features in, and a huge amount of mapwork got done.
It's challenging to work on lower resolution, low colour sprites. Here's something for today:
And, triple size:
I'd started working on these before I saw Tron: Legacy, and figured what the hell, and continued in the same direction.
These are not for public use in any form, it's just me showing off (a little).
I think that constraining myself to the EGA palette is having a good effect on building my techniques. Check this guy out.
On my God Shelf (it's a small area on my desk with Deity figurines/sculptures*), is a Monsters in My Pocket re-release figurine of Tengu. It's on this that I've based the sprite below:

I've just added a Warlock to my Sprite collection, which will be used for my Medieval themed game. For inspiration on this particular run of Sprites, I've been referring to Monsters in My Pocket, and the Apple IIgs game Warlock. No screenshots are available on the net for Warlock, so I'll snag one from an emulator later, but I assure you of its graphical quality relative to the hardware restrictions.
Still working on Medieval theme stuff, mostly for the test level of the new game engine. I'm currently working on some monster style enemies, but they need to make a good fit:
These are (mostly) ones I designed up today. The Ogre is one from the other day, and he's currently got walking and attacking animations made. The others are in the initial stage, so I just have standing sprites.
Another, slightly more developed use of the Sprites that I'm generating for use with the new Game Engine:
Here's a site with the sprite dumps from Mario games: Mario Mayhem. These are good for perspective, since they're among the most easily recognisable characters in video gaming.
